It's Important For Our First Lady To Have A Cute Little Hobby

When she isn't writing children's books with her daughter (and let's face it, it's really for hubby, isn't it?), Laura Bush is working hard on behalf of a jailed opposition leader in Burma.

Isn't that sweet?

She and 16 senators worked hard on a draft to send to the U.N. (you know, the organization that her husband wants to distance us from? Apparently, it's O.K. as long as it serves certain ends) to call on the Myanmar government to release 62-year-old Aung San Suu Kyi, whose been under house arrest since protesting price hikes in Burma.

Here are a few highlights:

"military regime...listen to the people"

"military regime...listen to the people"

Yes, I know, it's the same words, but I got stuck on it because she used them in THE SAME SENTENCE! Yes, she actually said it's important for a military regime to listen to the people! Good God, does she not see the irony??

So Laura doesn't like people being detained for no good reason? Hmmm...oh, excuse me, gotta clear my throat.

*coughing*GUANTANAMO*coughing*GUANTANAMO*

There...all better...

Next Laura will be caught saying it is a shame for any country to attack another without provocation.
Oh and Bushie just promised Millions of Barrels of oil to North Korea from our reserves. The same reserves he refused to use to lower the price for his own American citizens. Asshat!!!

Like any good despot, he's hoarding his reserves to bribe the other despots...typical...granddaddy's boy, right to the last.

Maybe one of the senators put that sentence in the paper. Laura probably was pushing for, "Do what my husband says or we'll know you hate America."

Frankly I don't think she's even that smart. Did you happen to see the actual text of those excerpts? She sounds like Rose Nylund on the "Golden Girls" when she wrote that letter to Gorbachev--kind of sincere, but completely ignorant and unsophisticated. This is NOT desirable in a head of state. And she keeps saying "reconciliation, reconciliation" in the fashion of somebody who's just learned a new word and has to decorate every sentence with it.

I'm not confident about this one!

You are talking about Laura, right? I'm a little confused when you say "completely ignorant and unsophisticated. Also, the part about repeating a word like she's just learned it, frankly, it sounds like you are talking about George.
