Unwanted Advice Temporarily on Hiatus

Since I'll be in Milwaukee tonight with The Joans, opening for Cyndi Lauper at the Pridefest show, and I'll be in Peoria next week, helping my uncle put on his new roof. Have a great few weeks! I'll see you again when I get back...

Have a safe trip, Aaron. If your Uncle hadn't raised the roof he wouldn't need to replace it. Around these parts they are replacing the asphalt shingles with steel roofs. Only slightly more expensive but last much longer and are stronger. The rumors about them attracting lightning are untrue. They come in a variety of colors. My own roof has wooden shingles from 1910 with asphalt shingles over them. The only thing that keeps me from drowning is the wooden shingles because the asphalt ones are falling off more every day.
In the garden my tomatoes are finally growing and the Zuchini (sp?) are looking good.
I will look forward to the return of your unwanted advice column. Be safe. ed

I sort of wish you were in Milwaukee with your uncle and then helping Cyndi Lauper put on a new roof. It just creates a sillier visual. Break a leg in Milwaukee and nothing in Peoria.

I'm pretty sure he's getting asphalt shingles (that's what he had before, anyway--Aunt Fay didn't specify what kind). We'll find out Tuesday when they're delivered! He's never lost many shingles off the roof, they just finally wore out in places, as they do eventually.

I love the Cyndi/roof visual! I'll have a dream tonight now in which we're hammering shingles and she's singing "All Through the Night." :-)
