The Sacrifices We Make

Apparently, Rudy Giuliani's senior campaign staffers are giving up their paychecks so that he'll have enough money to win. Mike DuHaine, his senior campaign managers says that his staff wants to to everything they can to "make sure Rudy wins."

Gonna take more than that, Mikey.

He also stressed that this sacrifice was voluntary and nobody was forced to give up their wages. Yeah. Right. "Voluntary" as in "you don't have to, but we strongly encourage you to and will subtly ostracize you until you agree."

Oh, well, it's good practice for them--if Rudy were to be elected, they'd be doing without a paycheck for a lot longer, as would the rest of us.

Did their paychecks amount to $911? Will they forgo being paid for 911 days? 911. 911. 911.

Rudy keeps thinking that "It ain't over till it's over," and well, Rudy... it's over.

Thank God it's over for him. At least it looks like it is, anyway.

Sarah: I wouldn't be surprised if they do calculate the amount of missed checks to be $911. They're clearly using every positive spin they can to make this look palatable.

Stephen: I sincerely hope so!

So Rudy will prevent any attacks if he's elected? Uh...wasn't he the Mayor when we were attacked last time? The Republicans say they'll prevent attacks and the Democrats won't. Wasn't the President a Republican on 9/11?
I'm so afraid that Bushie is waving his red flag in Iran's face bullying for a fight. Ed

That's exactly what's happening now with this whole Iran/US Ship thing...I'm convinced that the whole thing was cooked up by the administration to make us hate and fear Iran even more...I never thought I'd see the day when I trusted the President less than a foreign leader! (Well, actually, I don't trust EITHER, but...)

I just saw that the fad of riding the bus and trains without pants has spread from NYC to Chicago. Have you seen or been a part of any of that?
Bush told the Palestinians that Israel must give back ALL the land taken in the 6 day 1967 war. Do you think he knows that includes all of Jerusalem?
Israel was attacked first and they won fair and square. They should have made the Palestinians get out back then. WW#3 will be the result of that error. Ed

Ed: I haven't seen that on the trains yet (mercifully), and wouldn't be caught dead taking part in it! It'll probably become more common this summer, however, when it becomes hot and humid and intolerable...

I think the Israeli/Palestinian conflict is a lot more complicated than that, really. It would be impossible for us to understand, not being from that region, but the conflict between Arabs and Jews has been raging for thousands of years and will, I'm afraid, never be resolved (too much deeply-held dogma on both sides...like liberals vs. conservatives in a way).
