I keep seeing the same McCain Ad over and over again. It starts out saying something like people in Chicago are all crooks then segues into showing Chicago mob bosses and terrorists from the past 40 years. Obama must be a crook because everybody in Chicago are terrorist/crooks. The Republicans seem to really hate Chicago. I sure hope you guys all vote Democratic and that Professor Ayers sues the GOP for slander. ed
How in the world did I get a thumbs up from the FBI when I applied for my Canadian residency? I'm mean, I'm from Chicago.
Ayers probably won't sue for slander because being linked in friendship to the next president of the US is probably not a smear on his character. The other stuff...well, he and the Mrs. did have something to do with the Weatherman and the bombings.
Ed: The Republicans have nothing to lose by slandering Chicago, because it's run by the Democrats. Of course they hate us--and the feeling is mutual (although I think many of the City Council members are HUGE crooks--yes, Emil Jones and Todd Stroger, I be looking at you). But you needn't worry, Obama will carry Chicago, however much the self-proclaimed "patriots" of our city decry him (they probably supported George Ryan, which says it all).
Sarah: I'm very surprised that the Republicans have made no mention of Bernardine Dohrn (Mrs. Ayers). From all accounts I ever read, she was the most aggressive member of the Weather Underground faction, as well as their mouthpiece. But since she wasn't on any boards with Obama, it won't fit their distortions of the truth.

I suppose that makes UIC and Northwestern terrorists, too, since they employed Mr. and Mrs. A., respectively.
That would be the only irrational connection that one could make given the evidence.
